According to this wiring colour chart

    https://www.mgexp.com/article/lucas-wiring-colour-guide.50

White/brown is oil pressure switch. A ‘67 car will have a switch on the oil filter housing and a warning light at the top of the dashboard.

    Hi Richard,
Does this (Californian) car have an electrical temperature gauge? Maybe a rad or engine head mounted sensor?

  • Richard Reeves27 June 2025

    1967 positive earth Midget.
I cannot identify the longer wire (circled green) on the photo. White with brown tracer.
In the part of the loom running to the generator, but significantly longer.
Generator wires in red, what's left of the coil wire in white.
    What is it?

There's a few about David, probably most common would be Porsche.
We have a weird setup here on V8 commodores, it's a normal push type diaphram but the throwout bearing has a tubular spigot that goes through the centre of the diaphram with a spring loaded circlip arangement to hold it there---pain in the bum to get it unclipped to remove the g/box

Philip--you'll be wishing you didn't mention your issue before long--
But with all the posts suggesting wrong parts etc. we need to remember your car was fine and working properly and then something has changed while out on a single drive. I doubt it's the spigot bush, i've had them fail and you just can't get into gear and very difficult to separate the engine from the gearbox--and doesn't eff...

    M.G.Moneypit
Phil has the correct red roller bearing for a 1098: 3/4” centre of spigot to contact face.

    Latin for Ockham’s razor.

I was just joking really, to go alongside your Alan's and Colin's.

    But,

While on the subject of clutches in this section it reminded me of a clutch I encountered on a 2l turbo Lancia Thema engine, it looked odd and I realised that it had to be pulled to disengage the clutch rather than the normal push. It's the only one I've ever seen, all the clutch covers I'd seen before the release pad or fingers had to be pushed to disengage. A bit of a read and it seems pull clut...
